Terms of Service

1. What SusuSmart is

SusuSmart is a technology platform that facilitates personal savings goals and group rotational savings ("susu") between members. SusuSmart is not a bank and does not hold deposits outside of processing them through our licensed payment partner, Paystack.

2. Fees

A platform fee is deducted only at the point of payout, never from contributions directly. Group leaders may optionally charge a capped leader fee, disclosed separately, subject to verification requirements. Current fee rates are always visible before you join a group or make a withdrawal.

3. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of the mobile money details you provide for payouts, and for keeping your account credentials confidential. SusuSmart cannot reverse a payout sent to an incorrect number you provided.

By joining any group, you agree to contribute the full agreed amount on time, every cycle, for as long as you remain a member. If you receive a payout and later leave the group before other members have received theirs, any amount you still owe is automatically collected from your wallet before your departure is processed. If your wallet balance is insufficient to cover it, you cannot leave the group until it's settled.

4. Group susu risk, rotation order, and consequences of default

Rotational savings groups depend on all members contributing on schedule. SusuSmart provides transparency tools and trust scoring to reduce this risk, but cannot guarantee any individual member will contribute on time, and is not an insurer of any group's funds.

Payout order within a group is not simply first-come, first-served. It is weighted by trust score, so that members with a longer, more reliable track record on the platform are generally positioned to receive their payout earlier than newer or lower-trust members, including the group's own leader. This applies before a group's rotation has started; once payouts have begun, existing members' positions are fixed.

Missing a contribution lowers your trust score and can block you from receiving a payout in any group on the platform, not only the one you defaulted in. Deliberately taking a payout and then avoiding your remaining contribution obligations is treated as a serious violation of these terms. Beyond account restrictions, cases involving apparent fraud may be referred to law enforcement, using the identity, address, and Ghana Card details already on file for every payout recipient.

5. Account suspension

We may suspend or restrict accounts (including specifically blocking withdrawals, separate from a full account lock) involved in fraud, payment tampering, or abuse of other members, pending investigation. Serious or confirmed fraud may also be reported to the relevant authorities.

6. Referrals

SusuSmart's referral program rewards verified invites with trust-score adjustments and, for group leaders, a modest increase to their personal leader-fee ceiling. Referral rewards are never funded by, or deducted from, the platform fee charged to any group.
